      Winery Notes
Vieux Château Certan combines savoir-faire with exceptional soils. Coming mainly from the vineyard’s oldest vines, Vieux Château Certan is every year a blend of the most excellent lots produced at the estate. The brilliance of the wine’s hue, the richness of its aromas and the subtlety of its flavour bring it inimitable style. The wines of Vieux Château Certan possess natural concentration and require a few years’ cellaring before the first bottles can be opened. As with the greatest Bordeaux wines, they can be enjoyed after 10 to 15 years of age.

      Tasting Notes
The Merlot was ripe, silky and complete. It brought all its strength to the wine. The subtle Cabernet Franc provided balance by its freshness, and length of flavour through its pedigree. It gave the wine delicacy and spirit. Like the 2009 vintage, the Vieux Château Certan 2015, with its controlled power, offers excellent ageing potential. The balance between its silky texture and its freshness makes this a wine that has breed and great distinction, mirroring its outstanding terroir.

      Vintage Notes
This year, everything combined to make the vintage a success: superb weather allied to a mature vineyard enabled an outstanding vintage. A cool and sufficiently rainy winter, followed by a magnificent spring, brought about a quick and homogeneous budding of the vines. A good flowering followed, helped by fine weather at the end of May and beginning of June. Hot weather during July brought a substantial water deficit in the vineyard. This amazing summer period caused the skins of the grapes to thicken and along with fine end-of-the-season weather this enabled us to look forward to a worry-free harvest.
