HM Borges, Pather 1720.
From the private cellars of the Borges family (not the company, this is from the family's own private reserves). Apart from a few bottles of 1715 Terrantez, this is the oldest Madeira in existence. Probably a Moscatel, but might be a Bual. Originally purchased by the grandfather of the Borges family (hence "Pather"). His wish was that it eventually forced the family to do so.
DETAILS:
- Provenance: Christies Inc. New York.
- Vintage: 1720
- ABV: 19%

Scent and Flavor

NOSE
Subtle fudge notes and floral aromas prevail over sweet fruits.

PALATE
The start of taste is fairly rich for a Terrantez, flowing out in a soft but very concentrated way.

FINISH
Dry Finish, finalizing with impressive aromas and a highly concentrated acidity, all in superb balance.
