Jefferson's Pritchard Hill® Cabernet Cask Finish Single Barrel Bourbon S1B7
Finish fully mature bourbon for 12-15 months in a freshly dumped French oak barrel which aged Chappellet’s Pritchard Hill Cabernet Sauvignon for 2 years. This picks up the blackberry and chocolate that the Pritchard Hill Cabernet is so famous for.
Brian Schmidt, Topflight Panel Member:
You can quite literally see the impact from the Pritchard Hill Cabernet Sauvignon Cask on this unique pour from Jefferson's Reserve. With that deep red hue comes a gorgeous aroma of black cherry, chocolate with an earthiness that's hard to place. On the palate this pour dances around the cabernet with familiar wine elements. Tannic, but not too drying. Fruit forward, but not too sweet. I get distinct stone fruit and oak notes on the finish in a very pleasant bourbon. This is a glass is one that gets more complex the longer it sits and maintains its delightful aroma long after it's gone.

Jefferson's Twin Oak Single Barrel Bourbon S1B8
Finish fully mature bourbon in proprietary new cask that has been extra seasoned with the inside of the staves grooved out to give twice as much surface area. The second barrel is given a flash char and then toast at a specific time and temperature which evokes mocha flavors.
Brian Schmidt, Topflight Panel Member:
The Jefferson's Twin Oak line takes their fully mature bourbon and places it in a custom designed "wave barrel" for unique finishing. The toasted, grooved staves of this second barrel allow it to interact with more of the surface area on the barrel and pick up even more flavor from the oak. I'm always a fan of a toasted barrel and this single barrel pull does not disappoint. Naturally on the nose you get vanilla and oak, which continue onto the palate. What I think is really exceptional about this pour is the woodiness that is persistent from tip to tail while maintaining a light nature to the pour. Usually when oak is a predominant flavor, you end up with a whiskey that you can practically chew or something that has much more astringent properties. This Twin Oak is exceptionally smooth and not over poweringly oak. That said, if you don't like oak has a flavor, I would stay away from this pour. But if you want to live in what a Rickhouse smells like, this is the bottle for you.
