Aged beyond industry standard, our Reposado's deep copper color and rounded taste set our Reposado apart, along with its signature aroma of anise and spices. Casa Herradura created the reposado category.

We set the standard. Then surpassed it. Tequila Herradura Reposado, meaning "rested," is aged for eleven months, nine months longer than the industry standard. Its deep copper color and rounded taste sets our Reposado apart, along with its signature aroma of spices. The tastes of vanilla, butter and agave work in unison to create a smooth and sweet experience. Tequila Herradura introduced the first Reposado to the world in 1974, creating an entirely new tequila category.

"Born in 1870, Casa Herradura is the last true tequila-producing Hacienda on the planet. Within its ancient walls, we hand-harvest, handcraft and estate-bottle some of the finest tequilas anyone has ever tasted. It is here that we invented the first Reposado and Extra Añejo, forever changing the world of Tequila. And it is here, from the small town of Amatitán in the heart of Mexico's tequila region, that we continue to set the standard for what's to come."

Tequila Herradura’s long-standing legacy of craftsmanship dates back to 1870 with every step of the process taking place at Casa Herradura. The process begins in the fields of over 18 million Blue Weber agave plants which have been propagated for close to 150 years from the original agave grown around Casa Herradura. Our respected Jimadores harvest only the most mature plants which are up to six years of age. The piñas are brought in from the fields and stacked in our clay ovens and steamed using the traditional method for at least 26 hours. Cooked piñas are then crushed to extract the rich sugary juice or “mosto.” The “mosto” is moved to tanks for the natural fermentation process. Unlike most other tequila producers, Tequila Herradura uses only the natural airborne yeasts from our surrounding fruit trees to ferment the mosto. This natural fermentation process takes a full four days. Fermented juices are then distilled twice in our stainless steel pot stills. The resulting tequila is then matured in American white oaks barrels and estate bottled.

Rested in the barrels for eleven months, far longer than the two months which is required by law for this category. This gives the tequila its deep copper color.
