This lovingly matured light whiskey began its life in Indiana. When it reached the ripe old age of 15, it was dropped in Texas, yanked from its barrel, and redistilled in a pot still - just to see what happens.
Crowded Barrel’s Phoenix is a once in a lifetime project. Exactly the kind of shenanigans you’d expect when you give a Tribe of whiskey nerds the keys to a distillery. After 15 years, this Phoenix rose from the ashes and burst back into the world with notes of sweet melon, citrus, and a light vanilla cream. The resulting spirit defies categorization. It tastes too mature for new make whiskey, but the aged original flavors are a far flung and distant memory. This was an experiment for the ages, and once it’s gone - it’s gone. (I still can’t believe the feds told us to put 15 years on the label…)
