La Grande Année is Bollinger’s prestige cuvée; the embodiment of everything that makes Bollinger the producer that stands apart in Champagne.
This wine is only produced in the most outstanding of vintages, where ripeness and acidity reach a perfect balance and aging potential is excellent. It’s filled with aromas of honey, gingerbread, and cinnamon, and offers a core of pastry and candied orange flavors on the palate.
BLEND: 65% Pinot Noir, the backbone of all Bollinger champagnes, 35% Chardonnay.
VINEYARDS: Mainly Aÿ and Verzenay (Pinot Noir), Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oiry (Chardonnay).
WINEMAKING: Produced entirely in oak barrels that are aged up to 40 years. Second fermentation takes place for more than eight years on the lees in bottles with natural corks.
CRAFTSMANSHIP: Riddling and disgorging are performed entirely by hand - an almost unthinkable amount of work. Disgorged July 2019.
DOSAGE: 8 g/l
ABV: 12%
VARIETAL TYPE: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay
APPELLATIONS: Champagne, France
PRACTICES: High Environmental Value (HEV), Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne: Champagne Bollinger supports sustainable wine growing by grassing over the ground, using biological pest control, reducing the use of herbicides, recycling pruning waste, and planting hedges and orchards to encourage biodiversity. The Côte aux Enfants vineyard is managed organically.
RATINGS: 97 Points, Wine Spectator, 96 Points, Wine & Spirits, 96 Points, Wine Enthusiast, 95 Points, Wine Advocate.

“This goes from zero to 60 right out of the gate, with an intense spine of acidity driving tightly meshed flavors of crushed black currant, ground coffee, candied grapefruit peel and toasted almond." - Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator
The generous, complex bouquet opens with apricot, almond, floral and hazelnut notes; honey and brioche follow, intertwining in a symphony of aromas.
Pinot Noir, the backbone of all Bollinger champagnes, adds muscle and dimension. This wine will continue to reveal itself over time.
Weighty, concentrated palate with surprisingly bright acidity; unbelievable freshness and lush silk notes lead to a chalky finish.
The ultimate food pairing Champagne to make any meal shine.
