The Barrell Craft Spirits Private Release Bourbon C52R is an exclusive selection facilitated in partnership between the Whiskey Society at Seven Grand Los Angeles and ReserveBar. Seven Grand has been home to the ever-popular Whiskey Society for quite some time. It serves as a unique membership program that allows guests to further explore the spirit through education and experimentation with comprehensive tastings featuring Master Distillers, International Brand Ambassadors, and notable liquor industry members. Whiskey Society recently dedicated an event night to identifying the ideal Barrell Craft Spirits selection to represent the group — and this selection is available for a pour at Seven Grand or for purchase right here.
This Private Release Bourbon is a marriage of bourbons from Kentucky, Tennessee, and Indiana. It is constructed from a volumetric recipe based on a component age statement. Bottled at cask strength 113.92 proof, it blends 60% 5-year bourbons, 10% 7-year bourbons, 20% 10-year bourbons, and 10% 17-year bourbons.
Brian Schmidt, Topflight Panel Member:
Barrell has quickly established itself as a master of blending, and their private release series has quickly become a must-pick-up for me when I find new and fun variations. Seven Grand is one of my favorite bars in Los Angeles (and San Diego, Austin, and Denver) and is a spot I've made many whisk(e)y friends through their Whiskey Society. We were fortunate to bring these two together to create a private selection with the society members. We are excited to release this pour online and in the Seven Grand LA location. After tasting, the group decided on an incredible blend of 5 to 17-year-old bourbon from K.Y., TN, and IN. Always bottled at cask strength, this bottling clocks in at 113.92 proof, and it's packed with flavor. On the nose, I get stone fruit, baking spices, and vanilla. On the palate, this is a really unique pour. Many elements remind me of Speyside scotch — a honeydew melon, pear, vanilla, and spice, all without a ton of smoke — but it's also got the fuller body and oakiness of a proper bourbon. There's a bit of a spicy heat in here as well, which makes me think some portion of the blend has a healthy amount of rye in the mash bill. Spectacular selection by the Seven Grand LA Whiskey Society and another knock-out private release from Barrell Craft Spirits.
