A new collection of mythical malts, the “Anthology” will tell a story of three rare & strange liquids: experimental maturations in which Dr. Bill Lumsden, Head of Distilling & Whisky Creation, crossed classic Ardbeg smoke with sweeter, more delicate notes.
The unique Ardbeg limited edition releases will be released in increasing age from 13 Years old to 15 Years Old, each with its own unique maturation story. The first release being the 13 Years Old is finished in a marriage of sweet Sauternes wine casks and ex-Bourbon casks.
Please Drink Responsibly. Ardbeg Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky © 2023 Imported by Moët Hennessy USA Inc., New York, NY.
Product Type | Whiskey |
Style | Scotch |
Cask Finish | Sweet Sauternes Wine casks and ex-Bourbon casks |
ABV | 46% |
Country | Scotland |
Region | Islay |
Very distinctively oily, with touches of extra virgin olive oil, sweet briar wood, aromatic herbs (coriander & sage) and a suggestion of smoked lemon peel.
A soft, oily, mouthcoating texture leads into a rich, sweet, smoky palate with hints of oak moss, treacle, aniseed lozenges and a lovely, sweet, woody/balsamic flavor. Then followed by smoked apricots and eucalyptus oil.
Finally comes a lingering, sweet/smoky aftertaste, with a touch of cumin, cardamom and the merest hint of coconut.
