Each Single Barrel is a true Single Barrel: Bottled at cask strength without combining it with any other barrels. The most authentic expression we offer.
Brian Schmidt, Topflight Panel Member:
A rye whiskey barrel held out from the famous Barrell blends due it's distinictive and excellent characteristics. This is a 7-year-old Indiana distilled and aged product and while we don't know the exact mashbill, it's close to 95% rye. With that much rye, you better believe this packs a rye punch on the first sip. That bite immediately subsides into a beautifully complex palate and pleasant finish. A robust, creamy mouthfeel has a light sweetness and vanilla that meets the rye spice and a full oakiness that lingers until the end. I keep returning to this glass and getting different notes popping out - cherry, citrus, earthy spice, and a french bread crust note that I can't quite place. This is an outstanding rye whiskey and at 113.8 proof it is surely extremely versatile from cocktail to neat pour.
