Far away, the storm-lashed Orkney Islands is a place where magic happens. Here, Highland Park single malt Scotch whisky is made in the same way as it was over 220 years ago. Highland Park sees its distillery as a living, breathing organic place, its custodians as a product of generations of this work, and its whiskey as a product of generations of this work. Evolution takes time, and we've plenty of that.
This 12-year-old Highland Park release is a strictly limited bottling of the Single Cask Series, distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2022 in refill hogshead. It's a must for every whisky lover and collector, in a run of just 285 bottles.
From Lee Diaz, Topflight Series Panel Member:
Highland Park is a true staple in scotch, with mythos and traditions of its own. Having developed award-winning whisky for over 225 years (Yes! Two-hundred-and-twenty-five YEARS!), they have astounded generations of whisky aficionados with a depth of flavor uniquely their own. Maybe it's the refinement of their craft over time, the choice of malt and focus on process, or the impact of their environment in Kirkwall, Orkney—it's likely all of these things that make each release from Highland Park just as treasured as the last.
At long last, we have access to a Single Cask release, and we are so excited to share this highly limited and collectible pour with you. The bottle is distinctly Highland Park, with a refined look welcoming you to that first pop. The nose is balanced with notes of dark fruit, pastry, floral, baking spices, light grassiness, and sea salt. As you let a dram open up, these scents evolve and expand. Many of these scents continue into flavors, with the addition of fig newton, orange pith, honey, herbal tea. On the finish, these flavors transition into stone fruit, pepper, pipe tobacco, leather, clove, and rosemary.
