Glenmorangie The Cadboll Estate is a spirit crafted from the distillery’s own Cadboll Estate barley, grown only in the fields surrounding their Highland home, and distilled in Scotland’s tallest stills before being finished in a cask that is exclusive to each year.
For this year’s release, award-winning 5x IWC Master Distiller, Dr. Bill Lumsden, sourced a handful of casks that had previously held Amontillado – a variety of sherry wine that perfectly encapsulates the terroir of Jerez, the wine’s heartland in Spain.
Selected from two Cadboll harvests, the 2023 edition combines classic bourbon matured Glenmorangie, which is rich and creamy, with a selected portion of Cadboll barley stock. It is then finished in those special Amontillado casks for approximately a year introducing nutty, spicy and sweet flavors that blend perfectly to produce a wonderfully integrated whisky.

Style | Scotch |
Country | Scotland |
Wonderfully aromatic and fragrant, with touches of honey, hazelnuts, mandarin oranges and soft, sweet toffee. This is then followed by some fragrant, aromatic top notes, like sweet, ripening barley, followed by some baked peaches. A splash of water releases some flinty minerality, along with honeysuckle and jasmine flowers.
A gently spicy mouthfeel leads into a burst of sweet and spicy flavours – heather honey, gingerbread, hazelnut praline, fudge, toffee and a touch of clove. The Amontillado cask-derived nuttiness is always present, but always gently integrated with other, sweeter flavours.
The lingering aftertaste has touches of almond marzipan, coconut and finally a suggestion of baking fruit loaves.
