Château Mont-Redon owns 100 hectares (250 acres) of the most perfectly-sited vineyards in the appellation. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre in this Châteauneuf-du-Pape grown in these vineyards produce wines that are generous, powerful, tannic and concentrated. The blend has includes a small proportion of Counoise, Muscardin, Vaccarèse, Cinsault to achieve the perfect, elegant balance in the wine.
More than half of their vineyards are planted on “diluvium alpin” soil on the plateaus of the appellation at elevations above 500 feet. At these elevations, they are especially subjected to the harsh Mistral winds of the region, which can often be over 40 miles per hour, driving away any excess humidity. The vineyards are filled with galets, famous round stones and pebbles, that were spread over time throughout the highest plain, absorbing heat from the bright Mediterrean sun.
Tight and focused tannins on the palate. Very elegant and refined finish.
Intense nose with red fruit aromas combined with complex smokiness. Blackberry, mulberry preserves, ripe cherry, candied violet, licorice pastille and lavender
Piercing smoke and toast, clove, cardamom and black pepper, oak tones, garrigue, exotic spices
