Winery Notes
Altocedro was founded in 1999 by visionary Karim Mussi. A third-generation Lebanese immigrant, Karim and his family settled in La Consulta in the Uco Valley and it is here that he bought a 100 year old winery and planted his first vineyard to create his “born and raised” wines. By 2014, fifteen years later, Karim’s crazy idea of high-altitude, sustainable farming led to La Consulta’s being classified as one of Argentina’s few IG’s – Geographic Indication Appellation. Today, Altocedro is synonymous with La Consulta and Karim is considered the region’s pioneer. Altocedro is named for the “high cedars” surrounding his property and is a tribute to his Lebanese heritage. Sustainability is a guiding principle for Karim and he believes not only in giving back to the earth and environment, but to the community as well.
Tasting Notes
Lucid aromas of sweet figs and prunes, as well as cherry compote. Generous fruit in the middle with firm lightly chewy tannin and moderate length.
