Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Rosé 2004

Perrier-Jouët Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Rosé 2004

$370.00
A harmonious and elegant variation on the Perrier-Jouët style. A multi-sensorial wine, made up of delicate and complex harmonies: a perfect balance between the character of the generous year that was 2004 and the House style. 2004 is a year that nature proved to be generous. Frost in the winter and spring left the vines sun kissed. September’s semi-heat wave brought the fruit to optimal maturity and by the month’s end; the grapes had achieved a fine balance of sugar and acidity.

Belle Epoque Rosé 2004 represents a blend dominated by the Chardonnays of the Cramant and Avize Grand Crus. The Pinot Noir Grand Crus are from Mailly and Verzy, and are rich and powerful with red-fruit notes. A wine that has been carefully crafted, Belle Epoque Rosé owes its subtle style to the carefully selected still red wines (just 9% of the blend) that give a rosé shade without dominating the palate. Great care and expertise have been used to preserve Perrier- Jouët’s elegant style despite the power of the red wines.

The Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Rosé 2004 cuvée boasts an expert balance of floral and fruity notes, which will be unveiled to perfection by contrasting flavors. Its refinement will be perfectly expressed with shellfish, such as lobster tails sautéed with seaweed butter, accompanied by raw chicory leaves and wakame with green apples. As a dessert, the sweetness of panna cotta lifted by the acidity of a blood orange and pink grapefruit jelly and accompanied by a crunchy meringue will sublimely echo the multi-sensorial experience evoked by this cuvée.

Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Rosé 2004 has a Wine Enthusiast score of 94. (Wine Enthusiast Dec. 2011)

Notes of Scent & Flavor

  • Hints of Orange

A robe of pale Rosé with hints of orange and a very lively mousse.
  • Aromatic

Rounded yet delicate aromas of red fruits (red currants, raspberries and pomegranate) combine with blood orange and grapefruit. This is followed by hints of nuts, brioche, honey and caramel.
  • Gentle

The attack is lively and fresh, yet rounded. The palate is intense, generous and powerful, yet delicate, with purity of fruit, great finesse and a long, lingering finish.

“The most delicate and elegant expression of the Perrier-Jouët style.”

Origins

Founded in 1811 by Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and Rose-Adélaïde Jouët in the heart of the Champagne region, the Perrier-Jouët House has gathered and looked after exceptional vineyards (classified 99,2% on the Crus scale) over the years with a preponderance of Chardonnay, perpetuating its expertise rooted in the region’s finest winemaking tradition. Hervé Deschamps, the current and 7th Cellar Master, perpetuates Perrier-Jouët's floral, stylish and dimond-cut distinctive style. The iconic Belle Epoque cuvée is the perfect expression of the Perrier-Jouët style and reflects the exceptional quality of the House's wineyard and know-how. Belle Epoque is enhanced by a remarkable bottle, specially designed for Perrier-Jouët in 1902 by French Art Nouveau artist Emile Gallé.
