La Grande Dame Blanc 2004 is a full-bodied blend of eight Grand Crus purchased in the 1800s by Madame Clicquot. The color is a luminous sparkling gold with amber highlights. The blend benefitted beautifully from the exceptionally fine weather conditions in September 2004. The initial bouquet is remarkably intense, revealing fruity aromas of peach and bergamot with a mineral base. The bouquet is gourmand and voluptuous with hints of brioche, nougat, apricot, vanilla, frangipane, and jasmine.
On the palate, there is plenty of body and substance. The texture is crisp and silky. The chalky material notes resonate magnificently with this full-bodied structure and intensifies the lengthy persistence. The Verzenay and the Avize parcels are the two dominant crus in the blend, and the duet takes on its full dimension. The finish is fresh and generous, indicating a light dosage that does not disturb the wine’s natural balance.
La Grande Dame Blanc 2004 is composed of eight traditional Grand Crus: Ay, Bouzy, Ambonnay, Verzy, Verzenay, Avize, Oger, Le Mesnil sur Oger. Its varietal composition is 61% Pinot Noir and 39% Chardonnay.
A beautiful wine for gifting and special occasions, it is a perfect aperitif and also pairs with seafood and white meats. It also has exceptional ageing potential.
Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame Blanc 2004 has a Wine Spectator score of 94.
