Writers’ Tears Copper Pot is a unique blend of aged Single Pot Still and aged Single Malt Irish Whiskey. Triple distilled, non-peated and matured and aged entirely in American Oak bourbon casks. A gold Medal winner at the International Spirits Challenge in London and one of the highest rated Irish Whiskeys in Jim Murray’s Iconic “Whiskey Bible” - “Altogether a very unusual Irish Whiskey, a throwback to the last century where spiced Pure Pot Still whiskey was married with Floral Single Malt” – Jim Murray . It has also been included in Ian Buxton’s publication “101 Whiskeys to try before you die”.

Writers’ Tears is a unique style of whiskey embedded in Irish history. At a time when Irish whiskey was distilled exclusively in copper pot stills, two styles flourished: Single Malt and Single Pot Still. The marriage of both styles became known as 'The Champagne of Irish Whiskey' and was a style beloved of many of the Irish literary greats of the time. Writers' Tears is a recreation of that fabled 19th century whiskey and a tribute to Ireland's creative past, present and future.

Origins

Writers' Tears is a unique style of whiskey embedded in Irish history. At a time when Irish whiskey was distilled exclusively in copper pots, two styles flourished: Pot Still and Malt; distilled from 100% barley.

This was a style of whiskey liked by many of the Irish literary greats of the time; Joyce, Beckett, Yeats to name a few. It is said that when these writers needed inspiration, they found it in the whiskey glass, and when they cried they cried tears of whiskey. Writers' Tears is an award-winning recreation of the fabled 19th century whiskey and offers a rare taste of Pot Still Irish whiskey, bursting with flavour and complexity.
