Remus Bourbon is carefully crafted at the historic Ross & Squibb Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Located above the pure and plentiful Miami Aquifer, it's also the location of one of Remus' largest distilleries during Prohibition, Squibb Distillery.
Combine their adherence to Remus' legendary quality standards and the natural gifts of Lawrenceburg; you get an award-winning family of bourbons worthy of The King of the Bootleggers' name. Ideal for bourbon lovers and collectors, Remus® Single Barrel Bourbon is an annual release offered at barrel strength. With no two retailers' barrels tasting alike, Remus Single Barrel offers a new sipping experience in every bottle.
From Lee Diaz, Topflight Series Panel Member:
Take a step into bootlegging history with this single-barrel Remus release. The namesake for the brand, George Remus, arrived in the US in 1882, and of his many careers, he was a certified pharmacist; then, not loving the hours, he became a lawyer specializing in criminal defense. Enter Prohibition, and as Remus saw his criminal clients becoming wealthy through the illegal production and distribution of alcoholic beverages, he decided to become a bootlegger himself. In less than three years, he made over $40 million and had over 3,000 people working for him. Cut to today, and the George Remus brand is celebrating these prohibition roots with some spectacular releases and even better single barrels. In this Cask #444, you'll experience something unique from nose to finish. At first pop, you'll discover scents of maple syrup, cherry, nutmeg, toasted oak, and coconut. This leads into flavors of brown sugar, creme brûlée, hazelnut, and a finish that beams with caramel, herbal tea, dark chocolate, and leather. It's genuinely an incredible pour to celebrate the history that it reveals.
