Our Germain-Robin flagship expression showcases California-grown Colombard grapes, a standard in traditional brandy making. Distilled exclusively in Pruhlo Charentais Pot Stills and aged in Limousin Oak Barrels, Germain-Robin highlights the flavors that make California Brandy one of the most sought-after aged spirits.

Germain-Robin is met with a nose of oak spice and fruit. The fruit-forward notes of apple and pear are lightly accented with honeysuckle and cherry blossom, giving way to a rich apricot and peach flavor. Well-integrated toasted oak gives light accents of cinnamon and brown sugar. The rich full mouthfeel lingers after the finish in this balanced blend.

Origins

Our story begins in 1981 with the unlikely meeting of two creative minds: Ansley Coale, a professor driving along a Northern California highway, and Hubert Germain-Robin, a hitchhiking Cognac distiller. Acquired by E. & J. Gallo Winery in 2017, Germain-Robin continues its unrivaled pursuit of excellence today - advancing the art of fine California Brandy. If their meeting was unusual, the result was downright unconventional: Germain-Robin, the first California Brandy to break free from the constraints of traditional Cognac. Germain-Robin embraces many of Cognac’s rich traditions—including hand-distillation and the use of alembic Cognac stills—while harnessing the complex flavors of California’s extraordinary wine grapes.
