Death’s Door Gin has a surprisingly simple botanical mix of juniper berries, coriander, and fennel. Using juniper berries that grow wild on Washington Island with coriander and fennel sourced in the region when available. Death’s Door Gin is able to showcase how complementary and complex simple expressions can be.

Death’s Door Gin has a full London Dry flavor without all of the bitterness because of our extraction process and the base spirit we use. Big enough to stand up to classic or vintage cocktail treatment, but soft enough to be enjoyed on the rocks or as a dry martini. It truly is the “utility” gin of our time.

    Loaded juniper berries up front; spicy, citrusy notes from the coriander seeds in the mid-palate; and a soft, cooling finish provided by the fennel seeds.

Origins

Death’s Door began as an economic development project on Washington Island, WI. In 2005, the founders worked to bring sustainable agriculture to the 22 square mile island economy by working with the farmers to grow organic grains. Today, we continue to work with farmers on the island and harvest our wild juniper berries. Death’s Door Spirits takes its name from Death’s Door Passage, the most treacherous waterway in the Great Lakes. The passage separates Washington Island in Lake Michigan from the Door County Peninsula of the Wisconsin mainland. It represents a history of trial and struggle against the forces of nature that have dominated this channel over time. The character required to take on this strait is embodied in our spirits.
